Influence of nitrogen availability on seed nitrogen accumulation in pea

1999

International audience; The final seed nitrogen concentration (the ratio of seed N and dry matter content) is highly variable in pea (Pisum sativum L.) and N remobilization during seed filling may limit yield by restricting the seed filling period. This study was conducted to determine how seed N accumulation is regulated in pea. The effect of N availability and distribution on individual seed N accumulation rate at different nodes was investigated in three genotypes grown in the field and glasshouse under various levels of N fertilizer, depodding, and defoliation. The N content of vegetative plants parts (stems, leaves, podwalls) and seeds from three mainstem nodes were regularly recorded.…

Sustainable Growth Rate: An Analysis Regarding the Most Traded Companies on the Bucharest Stock Exchange

2018

The concept of sustainable growth rate was originally developed by Robert C. Higgins. In the case of companies with given stable financial policies, it is considered to be the link between growth-return rate combinations that gives a balanced growth line. This indicates the possibilities for a company to grow without generating deficits or cash surpluses. Increased sales require more assets, which can be financed by new debt, external equity, and internal equity through retained earnings. The sustainable growth rate is the maximum rate at which company sales can increase without decreasing its financial resources. The aim of this paper is to determine if the last year most traded companies …

Myoelectric Activation and Kinetics of Different Plyometric Push-Up Exercises

2011

The kinetic and myoelectric differences between 3 types of plyometric push-ups were investigated. Twenty-seven healthy, physically active men served as subjects and completed both familiarization and testing sessions. During these sessions, subjects performed 2 series of 3 plyometric push-up variations in a counterbalanced order according to the following techniques: Countermovement push-ups (CPUs) were push-ups performed with the maximum speed of movement; jump push-ups (JPUs) were similar to clapping push-ups; and fall push-ups (FPUs) required kneeling subjects to drop and then attempt to return to their initial position. Vertical ground reaction forces were determined by using a force pl…

Studies on the Content of P 700 and Cytochromes in Sinapis alba During Growth Under Two Different Light Intensities

1975

Sinapis alba was grown under two extremely different light intensities. We obtained two different modifications which hold several physiological and biochemical characteristics comparable to the relations in light- and shade plants. In the strong light the maximum rate of CO2-uptake increases within five days to a three-fold rate. At the same time the content of several redox systems of photosynthetic electron transport increases while the content of P 700 remains equivalent in both types of plants. In the high-light plants we find a ratio P 700: Cytochrome f of 1 but a ratio of 3 in the low-light plants. These ratios could be probably essential features of various sun- and rainforest speci…

Aminolysis of monoacetyl derivatives of 2,2′ -dihydroxydiphenylmethanes

1974

A neighboring group effect was found for the aminolysis of the second acetyl group in acetates of 2,2′-dihydroxydiphenylmethane derivatives containing a nitrophenol and a methylphenol unit. Kinetic measurements with an excess of n-butylamine in dioxane were done with 2-(2-hydroxy-3, 5-dinitrobenzyl)-4-methylphenyl acetate (1), 2-(2-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzyl)-4-methylphenyl acetate (2), and 2-(2-hydroxy-3-nitro-5-methylbenzyl)-4-methyl-phenyl acetate (3). The maximum rate was found for compound 2. When the concentration of n-butylamine was varied over a large range, the results obtained for compound 2 could be explained best, by assuming that the acetyl group in the methylphenol unit is aminoli…
